The Riso Poster Lab Workshop
This page summarises The Riso Poster Lab, an upcoming Risograph printing workshop hosted at Tashkeel in Dubai. It outlines the session focus, instructor details and where to find current booking information directly from the provider.
Workshop Overview
The Riso Poster Lab is a practical session introducing participants to Risograph printing. According to the official listing, the workshop starts on 27 October 2026 and is led by instructor Bassem Boules (source).
Risograph machines use a stencil-based duplicating process that sits between screen printing and digital reproduction. They are widely used by independent publishers, illustrators and designers to produce short-run prints with distinct textures and limited colour palettes. This session offers a structured introduction to that process within a dedicated studio environment.
For those exploring other scheduled sessions, the broader UAE creative opportunities listing tracks additional programmes across the region.
Focus Areas
Based solely on the published description, the workshop covers two core activities: colour layering techniques and the process of making a poster (source).
Colour layering on a Risograph involves separating artwork into individual channels and printing them sequentially. Each pass applies a single ink colour through its own stencil. Aligning these layers accurately determines the final composition, requiring attention to registration marks and paper handling between passes.
The poster-making component guides participants from initial separation through to a finished printed sheet. Working within the constraints of the machine encourages deliberate choices about palette, contrast and negative space before any ink is applied.
